An award-winning engineering team and patented innovations have made NT’s Santa Monica headquarters the optical sound facility of choice for the majority of Academy Award-nominated motion pictures and independent features for over thirty years.

This same team designed and built NT’s Hollywood digital intermediate and post production facility. Now, motion picture and TV producers and directors can house their projects in one convenient location with scanning, conforming and color grading through final deliverables.

Recognized for engineering excellence, NT engineers have been honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences with a Scientific Technical Achievement Award, and have twice been the recipients of the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers' (SMPTE) acclaimed Samuel L. Warner Memorial Medal.

NT’s focus on perfecting quality while maximizing cost efficiency led to the1995 implementation of the Quad format process of recording all four sound formats on one soundtrack negative.

In 2003, NT premiered a unique quad format theater where all four sound formats are QC’d simultaneously. This combination of laser recording, in-house film processing and QC monitoring offers a complete quality control system while saving customers time and expense by eliminating the need for multiple passes.

The Quad format allows distributors to eliminate multiple release print inventories. Die Hard with a Vengeance was the first title released with the Quad process and today nearly all major titles use the Quad format.

NT continues dedication to cost-cutting and quality-enhancing solutions with the development of several patented and proprietary innovations including the new enhanced Dolby® optical sound laser camera system. This NT exclusive camera increases the Dolby® IQ factor and helps extend release print life.
