YCM Separations Preserve and Protect Assets
Advancing motion picture technology developments have created new demands and requirements for preservation and protection in the DI workflow. YCM separation masters won’t fade and offer high resolution when properly stored. YCM separations offer protection if the digital media should be lost or damaged.

YCM separations meet distributor contractual delivery requirements
The workflow begins with ingesting the DI data from files on hard drives, other digital sources or LTO tapes. This data is then digitally split out to separate YCM files. The matched and registered separations are then printed at the same resolution as the original data source onto three individual black and white film separations.
This process of recording the digital data directly to YCM color separation masters by-passes the Digital Intermediate negative and yields a product closer to the original data. The resulting B&W film is processed using archival quality standards and specifications. The film is now ready for archival storage.
NT can offer a proof of performance demonstration by performing a recombined test. The three YCM’s are individually printed to a color check print. This check print should match the answer print as produced at the conclusion of the DI process.
Digital YCM separations are superior to traditional contact printing which can produce film movement. Plus, YCM’s produced from data have no dust, dirt, or scratches.
